Last night I had a friend over for a pumpkin themed drinking night. I wanted to try to recreate a pumpkin pie martini that I had at a restaurant recently, but I could not find any horchata and it was a part of their martini. Instead I decided to go with a new idea based on another recipe that I found.

To make the pumpkin pie martini you only need a few ingredients.
- 1.25 oz vanilla vodka
- 0.75 oz pumpkin spiced rum
- 2 Tbsp pumpkin puree
- 1.5 Tbsp pumpkin spiced maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp half and half
- whipped cream for garnish
To make your pumpkin pie martini, simply shake all ingredients except the whipped cream with ice in a cocktail shaker. Once your drink is cold, strain into a martini glass. Garnish with whipped cream.
If you don’t have pumpkin spiced rum and maple syrup, you could use regular aged rum and regular maple syrup and then add a sprinkle of pumpkin spice mix before shaking your cocktail.
This version of the pumpkin pie martini was delicious and we both enjoyed it. I will be trying more options though because that’s just the way I am. If you have any pumpkin martini recipes that you think are worth trying, please let me know.

A second pumpkin drink we tried is Pumking and Coke. This is technically a mixer and not a cocktail, but it was still surprisingly good. When I saw that Southern Tier had a canned version of this available I thought it was a bit strange, but decided to give it a try. I couldn’t find their canned version in stock, but I had a bottle of Pumking so I went out and bought some coke to mix with it. The result was worth the special trip to the store for coke. If you have a bottle of Pumking I would give this one a try.
